None

2007, photographic print on wood

None is a collection of portraits, none of them mine. Since 2007 I have been collecting faces — from the internet, film stills, family albums, TV screenshots, religious cards — and the act of choosing them is the work. The self cannot be shown directly; what comes from the outside forms an identity constellation, a scatter of images in which I recognise myself by physiognomy, or by something more internal — a character, a way of being that I feel as mine. What is most mine, I find only in the faces of others.
